(Real name: Keldor of the House of Miro, of Gar Infinos): Skeletor is the main antagonist of He-Man. In the original illustrated books and in the Filmation series, Skeletor is an evil demon from another dimension. A later Mattel minicomic implies that he was once Keldor, brother of King Randor, which was in fact intended. The 2002 series and related materials confirm that Skeletor was once a man named Keldor, though the series itself established no familial connection prior to its cancellation, his connection to Randor was heavily implied. The later DVD releases of the series featured bios, confirming ultimately that the shows’ creators conceived of Keldor as Randor’s half-brother.

One doesn’t normally think of the whale, that gentle plankton-guzzling giant of the sea, as a warlike creature. But in the universe of He-Man, anything is possible. After all, this is a place where a skeleton serves as an evil ruler assisted by a Merman (and we don’t mean Ethel). This whale, however, is on the good guy’s side. He is able to shoot spring-loaded missiles from gunning positions on his back, sides, and, improbably, mouth. The missiles don’t go far, but this toy is more about novelty than range anyway. A handlebar set attaches to let He-Man, who is not included, ride aboard and operate the whale. As the whale rolls along on concealed wheels, his mouth opens and closes and his tail fin flaps up and down. Assembly is required and, because this is a pretty ornate sea mammal, make sure to give yourself some extra time to complete that process.
